Upon checkout present the receipt for dinner at The Staveley Arms and a night’s stay will be deducted from your room bill.

Please note: The Staveley Arms is extremely popular, so to ensure you can take advantage of this offer, ensure you have a reservation before arriving for your stay. If you are unable to dine with us, The Old Coach House won’t be able to honour the offer. The Staveley Arms is not open for dinner on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights.

Ripon Cathedral Food & Gift Fair 

25-26 November, 9.30am to 4.30pm 

Get your Christmas shopping started and enjoy a festive day out in the splendid surroundings of Ripon’s magnificent cathedral. Browse over 100 stalls selling an extensive selection of gifts, food and drink, whilst listening to festive music. Enjoy mulled wine and delicious Christmas delights including hot turkey sandwiches, mince pies and homemade cakes. With activities planned for the children, there’s something to enjoy for the whole family.  

 

25th Anniversary Macmillan Carol Concert by Candlelight, Ripon Cathedral  

Monday 5 December, 7pm 

The Macmillan Carol Concert in the splendid surroundings of Ripon Cathedral is the start of Christmas for many. The annual fundraiser is supported by the choirs of Aysgarth School, together with the choirs and orchestra of Queen Mary’s School. Featuring professional musicians, talented performers and celebrity readers, this wonderful evening offers a festive programme of uplifting music in the atmospheric surroundings of the candlelit cathedral.

Little Bird Artisan Market, Ripon Market Square 

November 27 and December 18, 10am to 3pm  

Curated by Little Bird, the popular artisan market returns to Ripon’s historic market square in November and December. Offering mouth-watering international food and drink and beautifully crafted Christmas gifts, there really is something for everyone on your Christmas list. Local crafters and producers offer a diverse shopping experience with unique products from ceramic jewellery, children’s gifts and handcrafted woodwork to framed photo prints and skin care products. 

 

Festive Music and Lights at Fountains Abbey 

Until Tuesday 3 January 2023 

After a winter walk around the water gardens, as the light begins to fade, wander through the abbey ruins lit by all the colours of the rainbow. Walk beneath the cellarium’s vaulted ceilings and listen to live choirs and bands as they fill the ruins with festive music and carols. Refreshments are available including hot food from the Mill café.

Festive Trail and Santa’s Grotto – Thorp Perrow Arboretum, near Bedale 

24 November to 24 December 

Follow the festive trail until you reach Santa’s grotto nestled deep in the woods. The elves will welcome and guide you through the winter wonderland where you’ll meet a host of wonderful creatures before arriving outside Santa’s cosy log cabin. He’ll welcome you to his sitting room for a chat and a photo with a gift for every child.

RHS Glow at Harlow Carr, Harrogate 

17 November to 30 December 

Enjoy an after dark spectacle of lights at Harlow Carr this festive season. Discover the garden in a whole new light as you follow an enchanting trail around magnificent trees and shrubs awash with colour, as the gardens are illuminated by spectacular installations. New for 2022, a ‘pixel lawn’ covered in hundreds of synchronised, dancing lights. 

Take a break along the way to tuck into festive treats and warming drinks from Betty’s Tea House including mulled wine, mince pies, or hot chocolate.

Illuminated Winter Wonderland, Ripon Spa Gardens 

December 18 to December 21, 2pm to 8pm 

The Spa Gardens will be illuminated with a twinkly festive trail and an alternative Christmas tree competition bursting with creativity, and if you’ve not had chance to enter, free crafting activities will take place throughout the evening.  With carol singing, a brass band and seasonal refreshments including mulled wine, a festive atmosphere is guaranteed. Entry is free but all donations will be gratefully received.  

Bonfire and Fireworks at The Staveley Arms

The Staveley Arms and North Stainley Estate are delighted to invite the village to our first bonfire and fireworks event on Sunday 7thNovember 4pm -6pm.

Tickets £3 to include a hotdog/soup and there will be further refreshments available to purchase.

Summertime Fest: Everything you need to know

Summertime Fest is fast approaching, and we can’t wait! 

Here is all the information that you need to know: 

The gates will open from 3pm to allow guests to arrive and settle before the first act, with the live entertainment starting from 4:30pm up until 10pm. 

The list of all the acts and their timings are as follows:

There will be plenty of parking spaces for the event on the field of Watermill Lane with a very short walk to the pub. 

Drinks will be offered from the inside and outside bars, including a gin bar! 

Street Food will be available outside during the day and evening. This includes a Hog and Venison roast, BBQ shack, Tiger Prawn and Squid stand, Pancake/Creperie stall, H-Van for English Afternoon Tea and an Ice-Cream Hut.  

We will have hand sanitiser stations provided throughout the area and it will be preferred if face masks could please be worn when entering the indoor area of the pub.

Art at the Arms: 10th – 19th August

Lockdown has inspired many of us to be creative, none more so than our collection of celebrated local artists, who we are delighted to host at The Staveley Arms for a week of celebrating lockdown creativity in a variety of forms. 

From the 10th – 19th August our gifted and imaginative friends will be gathering at The Staveley Arms to show off their creations, as well as meet our local community and share their crafts and inspiration. 

Our artists have unique talents in Ceramics, Metalwork, Textiles, and Painting. Visitors to the week-long series of events will be able to meet the artists and, in some cases, watch them at work.

Summertime Fest at The Staveley Arms

”There is now lots to look forward to but this is an exciting FIRST for North Stainley and is coming soon!“ 

Summertime Fest at The Staveley features top class music from some well known artists and great street food from the team at The Staveley Arms presented as a North Yorkshire Festival. We are looking forward to seeing you and would love you to book early. 

The event will start at 4pm with live entertainment from 4.30pm until 10pm. Food will be available throughout the day and evening. 

Music will be headlined by The Dunwells*, supported by local Riponian Freddie Cleary, Leeds-based Solow Choir (as featured on BBC Radio 2), Lucy May Walker, and Megan O’Neill fresh from her successful new soundtrack on Netflix’s Firefly Lane 

Great food will be available throughout the day and evening presented in a street food format outside The Staveley Arms. Food will include: a Hog and Venison roast; BBQ shack; Tiger Prawn & Squid stand; Pancake/Creperie stall; H-Van for the quintessential English Scones, Cakes, Teas & Coffees; Ice Cream hut . 

Drinks will be provided at the full inside and outside bars, as well as from a gin bar. 

Parking will be plentiful and offered a two minute walk from the pub itself (cars are left at owners’ risk) 

Admission by ticket only (readmission with wristband). Some tickets may be available on the gate although this is not guaranteed so it is advised to pre-book. There will be security on site throughout the event. 

This is a family friendly event but children must be kept under adult supervision at all times – all visitors regardless of age require a ticket.

*The Dunwells are a successful Leeds-based Indie-folk / Americana band with strong vocals, powerful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Their debut album “Blind Sighted Faith” was released in 2012 following which they have released a further 6 albums/EP’s. The Dunwells have found favour with audiences across the world having toured extensively in USA, Europe and the UK as well as having supported artists including Mumford and Sons and Elbow on UK tours. During lockdown they played over 200 live shows and reached over 1 million viewers. We are delighted to have them playing in North Stainley!
